Putty SSH

Download puTTY ssh client.

newweb.net is closing incoming telnet connections starting February 1, 2001. For those users who need command line access to newweb.net (to use pine, etc..) will have to connect using ssh. puTTY is a freeware ssh client that is customized for newweb.net. SSH provides encrypted transmission of data. Download and install the putty client. The install program should create a shortcut on the desktop as well as the program menu called “newweb ssh”. Click on the shortcut. You will be prompted for your username and then your password. After that it’s business as usual, just like telnet – with the added benefit of encrypted transmission of whatever you type and whatever the server sends back.
